Introduction:
Valentines
day is a wonderful way to express enduring love for those
special people and/or pets in your life. Today we will
make hanging "stained glass" valentine plaques with Createx
transparent colors.
Materials:
Cardboard
templates (oval or rectangular) not more than 6-8" tall
Clear
acetate 8x10 sheets
Newsprint
or white bond (8x10)
Precut
ovals and rectangles to act as a frame w/hole punched
Directions:
1.
Take the template shape you want your valentine to be and
trace around it on the clear acetate. Cut it out.
2. Trace the template onto a piece of newsprint or sketch paper. In that
shape, draw your idea for a valentine design. Then place your acetate on
top of the sketch and trace your design using a permanent marker. (To make
it look like real stained glass, draw some lines that cut all the negative
spaces into smaller shapes.)
3. Once you have the lines drawn, paint the valentine ONLY ON ONE SIDE with
the Createx Transparent colors. Wait till the paint is dry to glue it into
the frame.
4. Make sure to apply the glue to the frame and not your picture. Sandwich
your valentine between 2 frames. Hang it with string or yarn in a window
that gets plenty of sunlight for the best stained glass results.
Art speech:
Template
- a draftsman's pattern or guide for drawing certain standard
shapes and symbols. (It is essentially a flat sheet, usually
made of heavy clear plastic in which holes of the shape
or shapes desired have been cut in different sizes.)
