 Paper Sculpture Trees

Introduction:
Springtime is a wonderful time to make kites, paper airplanes, or anything out of paper. One of the most exciting moments in the spring is when the trees begin to leaf out. Today we will make budding trees out of paper to celebrate spring.

Materials:

  • Brown paper lunch bags (or larger if you want)
  • Decorative paper scraps
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Directions:
1. Open the paper bag and stand it upright. Now twist the bag at the center to form a trunk. Be sure not to twist at the base so that the tree can stand by itself. Twist only three or four inches in the center.
2. Now cut slits in the bag from the top for branches and twist each of those individually. To make your branches stand stiff, twist them around pipe cleaners.
3. Cut or tear leaves out of decorative paper and glue them onto the tree.
