How is gold leaf made?


Because gold is so malleable, it can be rolled and beaten into very thin sheets. By first rolling under high pressure and then beating the gold with various hammers, gold leaf reaches a final thickness of 1/300,000 of an inch. 1 oz of gold is actually 2,000, 3 1/2 inch squares!
