A
watercolor block is a stack of watercolor
paper, between 90 and 140 lbs. that
is gummed together at the edges, making
it possible to do a painting without
prewetting and stretching the paper.
Stretching is usually required for papers
of weights under 200 lbs. to prevent
curling and warping of the paper. After
the painting is completed and dry, the
sheet is cut off the block.
