About the Presenter:
While living in Japan from 1985 to 1989, and teaching English in Tokyo, Lauren Pearlman learned how to make paper and a passion was born. While maintaining a double-residence in both Japan and the United States, Lauren founded Paper Connection International in 1995, which remains the exclusive American supplier of papers from Japan’s Kochi Prefecture Handmade Paper Co-op Union. The union is made up of approximately 45 paper mills producing hundreds of different styles, colors and materials of beautifully crafted paper.

In 1997, Paper Connection expanded its product line to include even more exotic papers from India, Nepal, Latin America, and later China and Korea. With over 20 years experience doing business with Asia and over 17 years in the world of fine art paper, Lauren has had the opportunity to witness first-hand the major changes that have occurred in the handmade paper world. She lectures frequently on the history of papermaking and is a wealth of information on the subject.
