On Edge: Annual Juried Exhibition

DEADLINE: Friday, January 11, 2019
MEDIA: Images 0 min 3 max
Edge: Contemporary Art Gallery, 7001 West Colfax, Lakewood

ON EDGE is an annual juried exhibition of contemporary work by Colorado artists pushing the boundaries of materials and concept. EDGE Gallery has exhibited groundbreaking contemporary art for 30 years and has been instrumental in presenting important experimental work in our region. All artists residing in Colorado are invited to submit their work. As always On Edge Exhibitions are juried without artist names visible to the juror and Edge members do not submit their work.

This show is open to contemporary art of any medium, with an emphasis on work that challenges the margins of material, content, artistic process, and technology. The merits and definition of “contemporary” will be defined by the juror.

This year, Adam Gildar will jury the 2019 show. He is the owner and director of Gildar Gallery in Denver, Colorado.

Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut Street, Boulder

In addition to accepting applications from artists and arts organizations, a curator may submit a proposal for an exhibition of work by a group of artists. The Dairy’s Visual Art Jury is a ten-member committee comprised of artists, curators, university faculty, and art collectors. Following the close of this call, applications will be reviewed by the Dairy’s Curator of Visual Arts and the Visual Arts Jury to select individual artists and groups of artists to exhibit in the Dairy's four galleries during the period defined above. A floor plan of the Dairy's exhibition spaces has been provided for review by potential applicants, however, if selected for exhibition the Dairy's Curator of Visual Arts will select the gallery or galleries that are most appropriate for the display of invited artist(s) work.

We want our Art Walks to create a 'spectacle', something so big or so interesting or so powerful that visitors to the district walk away saying 'I want to come back'. Creators, makers, and artists - we need your help! These spectacle experiences could take the form of interactive art, large-scale temporary sculptures, performance art, video installation, or other. Your imagination is the only limitation. We love projects that invite audience participation, are immersive and/or interactive, and promote curiosity and spectacle. Approved Art Walk projects will receive up to a $500 stipend to complete their work.
