In 1881, Emil Meininger arrived in Denver and opened Colorado's first art supply store. Today, the H. R. Meininger Company is owned and operated by the fourth generation of the Meininger family. Under the personal direction of Henry Meininger (shown at right), the H. R. Meininger Co. has grown into one of the largest art supply stores west of the Mississippi.
