Design and Build Internship Program

The Museum of Outdoor Arts is now accepting applications for their award winning Design and Build Internship Program. In 2012 MOA will host two paid summer sessions. Applicants must be seniors in high school or undergraduate level with various backgrounds and skills. Session II: Gallery Exhibition Project, July 6-August 13, has 12 internships available. Details.
Parkfield Lake Park

Arts & Venues Denver is seeking an artist, or artist team, for a site-specific public art commission for the third phase of improvements at Parkfield Lake Park. This commission is open to Colorado artists/artist teams working in all media. Estimated budget for artwork is $70,000. The park is adjacent to the heavily used Montbello Recreation Center, which provides lighted, multipurpose soccer and football fields, baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, playground, an urban skate plaza, splash pool and other facility improvements. The park was designed to comply with the City’s Executive Order 123, which mandates sustainable or “green” building practices in all publicly funded projects. Details.

Mile High International Pastel Exhibition

The 8th Annual Mile High International Pastel Exhibition 2012 is a juried show open to any artist 18 years of age or older. Original paintings only accepted. No work from copyrighted images or photographs taken by anyone other than the submitting artist. If used in your paintings, collage materials must be created by the artist. All art work must be 80% soft pastel. Paintings must have been completed within the last two years and not previously shown in a Pastel Society of Colorado or Madden Museum of Art exhibit. Details. IEA EncaustiCon™ 2012 will be held in San Antonio, Texas at the El Tropicano Hotel and the Southwest School of Art from Sept 6-9, 2012. Exhibition venue is Gallery Nord in San Antonio from Sept. 7-29, 2012. The juried competition is open to all artists working anywhere in the world, 18 years of age and older. Submitted works must be original, 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional encaustic works conceived and created entirely by the artist. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor or works created while in a workshop are not eligible. Artwork must not be copied in part or wholly from any published or copyrighted work. If the work is based on reference photos, the photos must have been taken by the artist or used with permission of the photographer. The medium is restricted to encaustic. While mixed media works are acceptable, all works must contain a preponderance of molten wax, which comprises a major component in the creation of the work. Film, video, crafts and jewelry will not be accepted. Details and to register.
Richeson75 International Art 2012 Competitions

The Richeson75 Competitions are meant to offer a venue in which established and emerging artists may show their latest, best work to a wide and appreciative audience. The 75 finalists for each regular contest will exhibit their work in our beautiful Richeson Gallery and in the Online exhibit. The Richeson 75 Competitions are open to all artists over age 18. All work entered must be original in concept/ execution and have been created since January 1, 2010. No work done in a class, workshop or under supervision is eligible. Work shown previously at Richeson School of Art and Gallery are not accepted. Employees of Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. are not eligible for the exhibit. An artist IS eligible for a prize in each media entered/juried in, but may only win one prize in each category. Winners of any Richeson 75 Best In Show award are ineligible for awards for a 2 year period following that win.

Meeker Sheep Dog Classic International Art Contest 2013 seeks to exhibit and auction the best sheep dog art and invites submissions that are original artwork of a reproducible medium that reflect Sheep Dog trials. The Art Center of Estes Park invites artists to submit up to four (4) entries to the “Lines into Shapes” 16th Annual Multimedia Art Competition and Sale, which will take place October 26-November 11, 2012, at their gallery in Estes Park, Colorado. LIS is open to all artists who work within any of the eight (8) media categories listed in the Prospectus: 1) oil/opaque acrylic; 2) watermedia; 3) pastels/ graphite/ink/scratchboard; 4) original printmaking-lithography/etching/ engravings/ woodcuts/silkscreen; 5) sculpture/wood/ceramics/glass/ assemblage; 6) photography; 7) fiber; and 8) jewelry. A non-refundable entry fee of only $15 per piece – maximum of 4 entries – will be charged.
Work must be original and executed within the past two years. Up to $5000 in prizes will be awarded, selected from actual artworks.
